Clowne Countryside Access Group

Co-ordinating volunteer action to enable a community with better access

Partnerships Formed

Clowne Countryside Access Group has recently formed two partnerships with other local community groups to share the common goals of improving the access around Clowne to give greater leisure use for people living in our community

CCAG welcomes Clowne Road Runners & Clowne Walking For Health Group to our partnership , you can explore the activities of these groups in more detail by clicking the links above

Volunteers Wanted

Clowne Countryside Access Group needs your help & contribution.

Our most recent footpath maintainance session took place on Saturday 27th June, meeting on Cliff Hill (opposite the nursing home) the group met at 10am and replaced waymarker signs and partially cleared an overgrown footpath.

A similar session will be arranged in the near future ,details will be posted on this site and any help would be greatly appreciated - we would love to see you there !

East Derbyshire Greenways Strategy

DCC Have issued a consultation document to key stakeholders to provide an update to their 2000 Greenways Strategy Document and CCAG have been included on the consultation list. This is an ideal opportunity for our community to shout about our need for a Multi User Utility Trail passing through Clowne.

  • This groups desire is to establish a route eastwards to connect to Creswell , giving a safe, secure connecting link between both communities.
  • A suitable Westward Link will allow direct access to the Communities of Barlborough , Staveley and will take us onward to the Chesterfield Canal and the Trans Pennine Trail
  • CCAG will be collating community support for our proposals , our ultimate aim is to link our community with the outside world and give others a real reason to enjoy what Clowne has to offer

Any help or feedback would be appreciated , as would letters of support or potential route suggestions

Funding Award Secured

CCAG have recently recieved a community award of £700 to help progress the activities of the group. The largest proportion of this funding will be spent on tools to help undertake our volunteer path maintenance programme.
